Devin + Emily | Their Wedding Story

Four years ago Emily and Devin started thier journey with a now halarious first date. She of course arrived at Flying Saucer early while he arrived 45 minutes late complaining about parking at that. But, when the date finally started, it was perfect and lasted for hours.

"Four hours later, neither of us wanted the night to end and it felt like we were catching up with an old friend. He came in late, complaining about parking, but somehow he won me over. Now, here we are, four years later, married, and excited for all of the chapters and journeys that lay ahead of us. I'm happy I stuck around for another drink because if not, I would've missed out on a lifetime of love and hilarious parking complaints."

Walking through the Arbortum on their yearly Thanksgiving get away, Devin stopped Emily by the coy pond. Told her to close her eyes and make a wish. She threw in coins, opened her eyes, and he was on his knee proposing.

"When we first arrived there were A LOT of people making their way in and I could see panic on Devin's face. We made our way inside and the park was already set up for Christmas, my favorite holiday, and so everything was twinkle lights and Christmas music. They had these beautiful gazebos set up for the "Twelve Days of Christmas" spread throughout the park, so we wondered around looking at each of those. I was in Heaven."

Their wedding journey quickly began with venue choice being priority on the list. With Devin being from Michigan and Emily from the Houston area, they were not set on an exact location, but knew they wanted an outdoor wedding which encompassed their love of the outdoors. After a bit of thought New Braunfels seemed to be the perfect place, and they selected Milltown Historic District for the venue. Siting directly next to the Comal River, it was the perfect setting for their day.

The smallest details made thier day extra special. You could see small sentiments of love throughout: a set of pearls and cross necklace from my Grandma Perry were present on my bouquet. The bride's father gifted her a very sentimental handkerchief that was embroidered when she was born and her wedding day added. For the bride, one of her favorite memories was her first loook with her dad. He expression brought everyone watching to tears, as we has filled with love and in amazement of his little girl.

A few of Emily's favorite memories:
"A few of my favorite memories from our big day: 1. The first look I had with my Dad 2. My mom and sister literally crying with me when we couldn't get my dress to close only to find out that the inserted piece had folded over on myself. 3. Our awesome photographer sticking half of her body up my dress to make sure the layer underneath was completely flat. 4. My dress getting caught on the stairs as I was walking down, but absolutely not caring if we had to rip it because I couldn't wait to see Devin. 5. Watching Devin, his childhood best friend, and his cousin break out in full boy band mode to sing "Bye, Bye, Bye" by N*Sync. 6. Devin and me sneaking away to the bridge for a few night shots and a moment to catch our breath together instead of doing a fake exit."

Emily's Advice to Brides: "Aside from all of the expenses, make sure to hire top-notch people to be your right hands! It's supposed to be a day for everyone to celebrate and as much as family and friends will want to help, ultimately you will want them to look back and say they had just as much fun and were just as relaxed as you were. A solid day of planner and a ridiculously organized photographer will make all the difference on the big day!!! "
